For our combined YW activity/party we were in charge. However, we didn't just want to have a 'party', we wanted to make sure that we included a service project & spiritual message. We decided to have 2 activities for the girls to participate in. One would be a 'cookie decorating' service project. Each girl was suppose to decorate a plate of cookies that they would take with them to give to someone of their choosing. Another activity was an advent 'calendar' to be used for themselves or with their families. We gave each of the girls 7 little gift boxes (found in the wedding section.) We had 7 characteristics of Christ (with a scripture reference) & an act of service 'challenge' related to the characteristic typed on separate slips of paper (folded & taped so the girls wouldn't know.) The girls put a slip of paper in each box & then wrapped them up with wrapping paper. Then, 7 days before Christmas they would start to open their boxes. An example of one of the papers - The Savior was obedient...do your chores without being asked today. We chose the number 7 because the activity was close to Christmas, so there wasn't much time for them to do much more. While the girls were working on the different projects, they were free to chow down on the pot luck food that everyone brought. This was a yummy pomegranate cheesecake that I made...doesn't it look gorgeous? Perfect for Christmas!Sis. McDonald, you're supposed to be a positive influence on the girls! :)The awesome leaders! Our bunch of girls:We have to do a silly picture! What a great night...Merry Christmas!
